Town Players Are Still Buzzing About Promotion

Huddersfield Town players started their pre-season training the other day and manager Simon Grayson says that the whole camp still has a buzz after gaining promotion at Wembley back in May. The lads first pre-season match, since their successful promotion campaign came to an end, will be against Guiseley in a weeks time and Grayson can't wait to get back into the swing of things;

"There's no doubt that winning promotion has put a real spring in the step of the players. Playing in the Championship is a fantastic challenge for us all and the players are eager to take it on. They've come back rested and refreshed but in good shape, and that means we've been able to get the footballs out straight away."

"Pre-season will be tough, but it's not the slog it used to be and the aim is to get to the first competitive match with everyone fresh and fully fit."

The only player in the squad to be returning to full fitness is midfielder Scott Arfield who picked up an injury in the play-offs but Grayson is confident he will be back in a few weeks time;

"You always get little knocks and niggles, but the aim is to make sure there are as few as possible. You have to work the players in pre-season, because it forms a vital platform for what lies ahead, but not over-work them, and hopefully, we'll get that balance right."
