Grayson Relieved With Home Point

Simon Grayson & Lee Clark before kick-off
Huddersfield Town struck in second half stoppage time to deny the visitors, Birmingham City, all three points at The John Smiths Stadium. The game was not one that any Town fan will want to re-watch in a hurry as the terriers looked terrible throughout the game, especially after going a goal behind just before the interval. Huddersfield struggled both on and off the ball and in all honesty didn't deserve to be blessed with an incredible solo goal from Adam Hammill in the dying stages of the game as the terriers added another valuable point to their tally in the Championship.

Simon Grayson gave his verdict on the game as he spoke to the official website;

"I am relieved that we have got something out of the game; it could prove to be a valuable point. We started well and I thought that we passed the ball with a purpose and created a few opportunities. Butland has made a fantastic save to deny Scannell and I thought that we showed a good desire and attitude. We lacked a little bit of cutting edge and quality in the final third to finish our chances."
"Scannell was a constant threat in the first half and I thought that Oliver Norwood and Adam Clayton passed it around well, while Neil Danns settled in nicely."
Birmingham broke the deadlock just before the half time whistle was blown and Grayson reflected on how this affected his team;
"Their goal was a killer blow at half time and you could sense that both the players and the fans got anxious as the game wore on. The players confidence was dwindling a little and they were doing things that they wouldn’t normally do. We had to throw bodies forward towards the end and we were indebted to Alex Smithies for keeping us in the game at times. However, at the other end Jack Butland made a great save to deny Alan Lee and then Adam Hammill pops up with a big of magic to get the goal."
Huddersfield Town may look back at this game as a point won after scoring very late on but they are now eleven Championship league games without a win;
"We wanted more from the game, we wanted to win. There was nothing in the first half and if anything we shaded it. There was just a little bit missing that was preventing us from getting that goal."
Adam Hammill will return to Wolves this weekend as his loan expires with the terriers and Grayson has stated that he will talk to their manager about the winger;
"Adam will go back to Wolves on Monday and I will have a conversation with Dean Saunders regarding the situation, which could be completely out of our hands. He might want to have a look at him and give him an opportunity. If the goal proves to be Adam’s last contribution for Huddersfield Town then what a way to go out."
