Dixon's Reaction To Watford Game

Paul Dixon has spoken to the official Huddersfield Town website after a humiliating 4-0 defeat away at Watford. The terriers started the game off the better side but a penalty to Watford just on the stroke of half time was a massive blow to the confidence of Huddersfield and they went on to concede another three goals in the second half without reply;

"It was never a penalty. We did alright first half, but that decision went against us and ultimately it’s affected us. We went out in the second-half, didn’t perform well enough and lost another three goals. You can try and put days like this behind you, but you’ve got to learn from them. We really need to learn from this fast, because it’s happened a couple of times before this season before today; Millwall and Leicester being the outstanding ones."
"I don’t know what it is, but when we lose goals it seems to affect us. We need to stop letting goals affect us and work hard to get back into games when we concede first."
The heavy defeat today has taken Huddersfield Town's win less Championship league game streak to 12 and things dont look like they are going to get any better soon;
"First and foremost we have to work hard. That is the only way you can get out of situations like this. Hopefully the rest will come if we work hard."
Paul Dixon and the rest of the team will take a much needed break from Championship football as they take on Leicester in the 4th round of the FA Cup next Saturday and its a break which the defender is thankful to have;
"It’s always nice to play in the FA Cup. Obviously for me before this season I have played in the Scottish cups, but it’s great. It takes us away from the League for a week but if we can get a win next week, I hope that will kick-start our League season again."

Danns Looking To Push The Terriers Up The Table

Danns has joined the terriers on loan until the
end of the current 12/13 season
Neil Danns has assured Huddersfield Town fans that the club can still compete for a play-off spot this season despite a poor run of form which has seen them slip down the Championship league table. The terriers have recently gone ten games without a win before battling hard to defeat Charlton by one goal to nil and Danns knows exactly what is needed in this league to pick up vital points.

Grayson Accepts Responsibility For Foxes Mauling

Simon Grayson has come out and spoke to the press after he watched his side take a hammering from Leicester City with six goals going into the terriers goal. The game ended 6-1 to the foxes and Grayson has accepted responsibility for the heavy defeat but has insisted that his players must also take the blame as they all had a poor game today;

"I’m the Manager and I take responsibility for the football team, but you are lost for words at times,” Simon explained. “We came here with a game-plan to try and keep Leicester quiet by keeping things solid and making yourself hard to beat, which is why we played the system that we did, but we started the game dreadfully."
The Foxes were running riot at the beginning of the game.
They netted twice in the opening 20 minutes.
 "We wanted to go with a back four that was nice and solid behind a compact midfield five that would frustrate them, but certain players didn’t do the job that we asked them to do and before you know it you are two goals down and your plan goes out of the window. We switched to a 4-4-2 at that point, but that is a little expansive when you have Leicester playing to their capabilities with the passing, movement and pace they have in their team."
"We weren’t tight enough around the pitch. We knew Leicester would get off to a lightening start, because that’s how they’ve started many games this season, but obviously to go a couple of goals down so early on affected us."
"We asked the lads to go out in the second half and restore a little bit of pride, but only a few minutes in we were four goals down and it was a long slog in the second half for everybody."
Alex Smithies was removed from the game at half time and Grayson explained why this switch was made at the interval;
"Alex got a dead leg in the build-up to one of the goals. He tried to carry on, but he found it a bit too much so he came off."
Ian Bennett was Smithies replacement but even the veteran couldn't stop the terriers from shipping goals in the second half. Two quick fire goals meant Huddersfield were five nil down with over thirty minutes to play and things were not looking good. Grayson explained in his post match interview that the players have to take responsibility for this defeat just as much as he is doing;
"The players have to take a lot of responsibility on board, because they are making the wrong decisions. I’ll take responsibility too as it is my team and my players, but this is the same group of players that were in the top six of the division eight weeks ago that is suddenly making the wrong decisions. You look at Joel Lynch for their third goal. He made an absolutely crazy decision; why didn’t he put his foot through the ball? If we’d got in at half time two goals down we might have been able to address the situation."
"We are a young team, but once players cross the right line they have to make the right decisions – I can’t talk them through things all the time. It’s easy to play when the team is doing well, but we need players to dig in and understand what to do when things aren’t going well."
"You need players that will take responsibility; people with the knowledge of the game and the passion, desire and legs to do everything that I require. It’s worrying. We always look to be positive, but you can’t be positive after today’s performance because we were very lacklustre. All you want your players to do is run around, chase and work but we were second best to everything today. As I said earlier, Leicester have good players and are rightly one of the favourites for the division but they looked streets ahead of us."
"You have to apologise to the supporters for the performance we put out there, but at the same time you have to give credit to Leicester. They are a good team. However, we certainly helped them win the game comfortably today and that is hugely disappointing. We need to do something about it. A few weeks ago everybody was giving us plaudits and perhaps the players started to believe in that and think they are better players than they are? They have stopped working like they did in the first half of the season and are doing things that have got us into this dip that we’re in at this moment in time."

Beckford Ready To Work Hard

Jermaine Beckford has spoken for the first time since his arrival from Leicester City on loan last night. The striker has fallen out of favour at the Foxes since the arrival of Pearson and now has a chance to show what he is worth at Huddersfield Town. Under Simon Grayson and his backroom staff, Beckford was one of the most prolific goalscorers in English football but has since has failed to impress at Leicester City.

A brief spell at Everton in the Premiership has given the striker some much needed experience of how things are in the top leagues and now Beckford is ready to fight for his place and most importantly score goals for Huddersfield Town;

"I'm delighted we've got the deal over the line and now I'm looking forward to actually getting out there and showing everyone what I'm about and what I can do. I just want to be playing games, but it is just one of those unfortunate situations where I was pushed down the pecking order. That is football."

"I hope I can showcase what I can do here and get a few goals to help maintain this amazing run Huddersfield Town has been on. Obviously I've worked with the Manager, 'Snods' and 'Dusty' before and when I heard they were interested in bringing me in and giving me a chance to play it was almost a no-brainer. We have such a good relationship and I know exactly what type of football they like to play, which suits me."

"The technical staff wants me to do what I do; come in, enjoy the games and get some goals. That's what I'm looking forward to doing. I've played with a few of the lads here too and I've probably played against all of them, so we all kind of know each other one way or another. I'm looking forward to getting in with them and fighting in their corner."

With both strikers at Huddersfield Town on great form, Beckford understands that he may have to wait a while before being given a chance at showing the fans what he can do;

"I'm not here to try and push anyone out or ruffle any feathers, I'm here to dig deep, work hard and hopefully get a few goals and a few assists to get the other boys on the score-sheet. It's been an amazing run the Club has been on and they've probably exceeded expectations and I hope it continues."

"I'm excited about the Watford game. My last game was on 1 September and I'm excited to say the least! If I'm involved then brilliant, but I understand football and I'm not expecting to come in and take anyone's spot, like I said. I'm just happy to be given this chance."

Beckford Signs For Terriers On Loan!!

We have finally got him. Jermaine Beckford was all but signed on transfer deadline day for Huddersfield Town but with just five minutes to go, Leicester City pulled a plug on the deal to the annoyance of many. However, Grayson has never given up the chase and today he has got his man, Beckford, on an emergency 93 day loan from the Foxes. The prolific striker is available for the game tomorrow against Watford and Grayson is delighted with his latest capture;

"Jermaine is a good footballer and he adds something different to the squad. The players we have at the squad all have different qualities and Jermaine is a natural goalscorer, his record speaks for itself. Having that variation in the squad is perfect for me as Manager as it allows the team to adapt to different situations. I want competition for places and the addition of Jermaine gives us strength in depth, hopefully he can help us build on the successful start we have made to this season."

"Everyone at the Club has had a tough time trying to get this deal over the line; not just on August transfer deadline day, but also in the last 24 hours. Jermaine comes straight into the squad for Saturday's game against Watford."

We here at HTFC Hub are absolutely buzzing with Beckford signing on loan but what's your opinion? Comment below.

Beckford Not Joining Terriers

Breaking news has been announced on Twitter regarding Jermaine Beckfords future. The out of favour striker at Leicester City was minutes away from signing for Huddersfield Town under ex-manager Simon Grayson before the foxes pulled out in the transfer window & today his agent has stated that he will not be going anywhere now.

Simon Grayson was keen to bring Beckford to the terriers on a season long loan but seemed happy enough to settle for an emergency 93 day loan with the opening of the loan window but it seems like he will miss out on his main target completely now.

Beckfords agent, Nick Rubery, answered a question regarding his player on the social networking site moments ago;

"@Kingpowers: @nickrubery1 have #lcfc stopped the Beckford move to Huddersfield completely now?" Yes. J won't be going anywhere now.

So there you go Town fans. Beckford will not be joining Huddersfield Town but remaining at Leicester City.

Nigel Clibbens On Deadline Day Collapse Of Beckford Loan

Huddersfield Town strengthened their squad on the final day of the transfer window on Friday with the addition of Adam Hammill but the board at the terriers were left unhappy with the last moment collapse on a loan deal which would of seen Jermaine Beckford join from Leicester City. The highly rated striker has found himself having to sit regularly on the bench at Leicester & reports suggested that he had agreed a deal with Town to join them on loan for the rest of the season.

The loan deal was indeed true and both clubs had met an agreement but with just five minutes of transfer deadline day left, Leicester pulled out due to unknown reasons. Nigel Clibbens gave his thoughts & opinions about the whole Beckford situation;

"We appreciate we've got to replace the goals and we've tried to do that, but we won't rush to bring somebody in just because somebody has gone out. It's important we use the money from Jordan's sale wisely because we are not bereft of talent. We have got a lot of talent in the squad, Simon Grayson is quite comfortable with that, and we will keep on going."

"The loan window is an option for us and we'll see what it brings. I'm sure there will be lots of movement on deals which didn't quite happen, both for us and for other clubs, and anything can happen. We will just keep on looking to strengthen our squad all over the pitch. We will simply continue to do the things which have stood us in good stead throughout Dean Hoyle's chairmanship. That won't change, our plans haven't changed and we will keep sticking to what we know we are good at."

Clibbens then gave his answer to how the Beckford loan deal had come about & how things had happened on Friday;

"We spent a lot of last Thursday and all of Friday negotiating with Leicester and we moved close to a deal, agreeing terms for a season-long loan. Jermaine travelled to Huddersfield to sign the paperwork and once it got past 10pm we started filling it in. We signed, Jermaine signed and then Leicester decided they didn't want to do the deal, so we didn't get it completed."

"That's part and parcel of football and business and it can be frustrating. Maybe it will come back in the loan window, I don't know at this stage. We got very close and we would have been glad to have Jermaine here, but the squad we have got we are quite comfortable with."

Clibbens reiterated that everyone understands that Huddersfield have got money to spend due to Rhodes' £8m departure but the club will not be bullied into paying over the odds for any player;

"It might change the emphasis for other clubs because they think we have funds available to do the deals. They might feel they can be stronger in demanding what they want, but it's for us to remain strong and stick to paying what we think is fair value. It's all under our control from that point of view. If someone holds us to ransom we don't have to agree to their terms. It is a colossal amount of money for Jordan because he is a special talent, but when he says he wants to go and we are offered that amount of money, there's only one outcome really."

"It is as Dean said, if Jordan had wanted to stay he would have turned down the cash, so it shows how focused we are not on short-term financial gain but on the long-term picture. Simon sets his teams up as teams, for the collective effort, and anyone who has watched Jordan will know that a huge proportion of his goals came from the collective effort."
